The seasons are a’ changin’ Summer is gone and Autumn is here! The leaves are a riot of reds, and golds, and oranges. The air is crisp and cool, and sometimes a tad chilly. Many of my mornings and afternoons are spent outside on the porch looking at the beauty around me and watching the twins play. And nothing compliments this weather like a nice hot chocolaty beverage!
Now I am a huge fan of real hot chocolate; melted down baking chocolate with milk and cream and sugar heated over the stove and stirred constantly until just right. But c’mon with twins I don’t have 30 minutes or more to make a single cup of hot chocolate and that store bought instant stuff just ain’t cuttin’ it, it just isn’t rich enough.
This recipe is really simple all you have to do is collect all your ingredients together.
Measure them out and throw them in a blender.
Add in your essential oil of choice and blend until smooth!
Aaaand voila! Your very own flavored hot chocolate. I made mine peppermint but you can play around with tons of flavors like orange, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and more. Have fun trying out different flavors!
To prepare your hot chocolate add 3-4 tablespoons of the mix to a cup then pour in boiling water and stir. You can also add 3-4 tablespoons to to hot milk and stir. This recipe makes a rich hot chocolate if you like yours on the sweeter side just add more powdered sugar until your desired sweetness is reached!
There are many essential oils out there and not all of them are safe for ingestion. I choose to only use Young Living Essential Oils for their quality and purity. Find out how to save 24% on all your oily purchases!
I love adding my Homemade Marshmallows to this.
Please excuse the not so natural ingredients in the pictures. I was waiting on my box from Thrive Market to come in but had a class demo of the hot chocolate to do. So I went to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients real quick. This’ll teach me to wait until the last minute to order ingredients!
- 2 Cups Powdered Milk
- 1 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 Cup White Chocolate Chips
- 1 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 4-6 Drops Essential Oil/s of Choice (I used Peppermint)
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender or food processor.
- Blend until combined, you do not have to blend until the chocolate chips are completely powdered, they will melt when you add hot water or milk.
- When adding essential oils small out with the fewest drops then make a test cup of hot chocolate and add more to the blender if needed and blend.

I love the fact that you put everything in a food processor! I think it’s a great idea because the chocolate melts faster this way when you warm it up! Great recipe!
